The City of Surrey's First Ever Outdoor Ice Rink
Surrey, BC
The annual Surrey Tree Lighting Festival & Holiday Market marked its 15th anniversary and return this year with not only a new outdoor ice rink, but also free ice skating admission!
The rink is open now through Family Day on February 16, 2026, welcoming guests on a first-come, first-served basis via wristbands and managed time slots. Skaters are encouraged to bring their own equipment to the rink, but skates and helmets will also be available to rent on site.
Located in Surrey's City Centre at Civic Plaza, it is just steps from Surrey Central SkyTrain Station and bus loop. The 4,000-square-foot rink delivers an inclusive venue for everyone to enjoy and is the city's key holiday initiative toward building a vibrant downtown in Surrey.
Live music, food trucks, photo opportunities, and carolers are among some of the city's weekly activations. An on-site café serves families, seniors, and students as another space to congregate!
As Mayor Brenda Locke puts it, “Events like this bring our community together and highlight Civic Plaza as a vibrant gathering place. The debut of the outdoor ice rink reflects our commitment to creating inclusive, family-friendly spaces that strengthen connections across the city.”
Group rink rentals will also be available. For upcoming events, schedule, and hours, please click the link below for more information.
